One thing that I work really hard on avoiding is wishing time away - we all have things we look forward to - whether it be a holiday, drinks with friends or a day out on our own, but what I don't want to do is live the time in between on hold.
What could we be missing when we are so focused on something only in the future??
Let me share a little story with you .... many years ago during my first full time job outside of university I would make my morning cup of tea around the same time as an older colleague from another department. We would have a quick chat, ask how our days were going or how our weekend was, or even what we had planned for the following weekend. This one day I made the comment that it was sad that we were wishing our life away when we remarked we couldn't wait for the weekend to come.
The following Monday morning he wasn't in the kitchen.
He had passed away that weekend.
I can't remember his name but I do remember being quite shaken by this event because of the conversation we had had the week before. Since then I have sworn to myself not to wish time away.
So, why am I sharing this with you now? Its just a small way to encourage you to try and live more now, look after yourself better but still look forward to the weekend.
