DESCRIPTION: A tea close to my heart - so much of what I talk about in my clinic is what we can do to NOURISH ourselves, so I created this tea with this in mind.

 

This tea is designed to be a 'hug in a mug' - warming and nurturing your adrenal and nervous systems, this tea has an earthy flavour that can be enjoyed any time of day.

 

Also can be made and turned into an ice tea during the hotter weather.

 

INGREDIENTS: Organic licorice root, organic ashwaghanda, organic rhodiola, organic gotu kola & organic hibiscus flower.

 

Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)*: One of my favourite herbs in my dispensary – Licorice nourishes the adrenals during times of stress, calms and settles the digestive system and can even relieve a chesty cough!

* Caution if you have high blood pressure or kidney disease. Avoid during pregnancy without seeking health professional advice.

 

Ashwaghanda (Withania somnifera)*: This is considered to be one of the most important and powerful herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. It helps to rejuvenate, boost energy levels, reduce fatigue and symptoms of stress, protect the immune system, balance blood sugar levels and reduce anxiety. As an adaptogen, it also helps to reduce the effects of stress on the body.

Rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea)*: This wonderful root is nourishing during times of exhaustion and stress, also helps the body resist the long term effects of exposure to our stress hormones.

Gotu kola (Centella asiatica)*: This herb has been used for thousands of years in India and China to treat varicose veins and its ability to improve memory and mental clarity. It helps reduce anxiety, and as an adaptogen, it helps to reduce the effects of stress on the body.

* avoid in pregnancy, during breastfeeding and with some medications – please consult your health professional for advice.

 

Hibiscus flower (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis): A beautiful and vibrant flower, high in vitamin c with a refreshing fruity, slightly sour taste and leaving your tea with a stunning red colour.

 

BREWING INSTRUCTIONS: Place a heaped teaspoon (2.5 grams) of herbal tea per cup (250ml) into a teapot or infuser. Add filtered water at 75ºc–85ºc and allow to infuse for 8-10 minutes to get the full flavour of the roots used. Strain the tea and serve.
