I love Christmas - all the smells, the foods and the time with those we love! To celebrate the season I just HAD to create a tea to NOURISH your senses and give your tummy a gentle hug at the same time!

DESCRIPTION: This tea is a wonderful blend of the spices including cinnamon and coriander that we love at Christmas alongside herbs to help digestion with marshmallow and licorice and then berries to give us that little boost of antioxidant support!

This would be nice with a dash of honey added at the end but it is sweet enough as it is.

INGREDIENTS: Organic marshmallow root, organic licorice root, organic hawthorn berries, organic cinnamon/cassia chips, organic rosehip shells, organic elberberries and organic coriander seeds.

Marshmallow root (Althea officinalis): A very soothing and cooling herb to soothe digestion inflammation and urinary infections.

Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)*: One of my favourite herbs in my dispensary – Licorice nourishes the adrenals during times of stress, calms and settles the digestive system and can even relieve a chesty cough!

* Caution if you have high blood pressure or kidney disease. Avoid during pregnancy without seeking health professional advice.

Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna)*: These little berries support the function of the heart and cardiovascular system with studies showing reduction in blood pressure and the strengthening of arterial walls.

* Caution with blood pressure and heart medication

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)*: A wonderful spice to support sweet cravings and blood sugar imbalances, digestive disturbances (including diarrhoea and vomiting), and inflammatory conditions. A wonderful warming herb.

* Avoid during pregnancy without seeking health professional advice

Rosehips (Rosa canina): An excellent source of vitamin C to give you an added antioxidant boost and support your adrenals and immune system.

Elderberry (Sambucus nigra)*: This little berry is antioxidant rich and helps fight viral infections and boost the immune system overall.

* Avoid during pregnancy without seeking health professional advice

Coriander seeds (Coriandrum sativum)*: This little seeds aids digestion and promotes the healthy function of the liver and balances blood sugar levels.

* Avoid during pregnancy without seeking health professional advice

BREWING INSTRUCTIONS: Place a heaped teaspoon (3 grams) of herbal tea per cup (250ml) into a teapot or infuser. Add filtered water at 100ºc and allow to infuse for 8-10 minutes to get the full flavour of the roots and berries used. Strain the tea and serve. Can add a little honey for extra taste if you wish.
